Dr. Larry Winans

Dr. Lawrence J. Winans  is a Pittsburgh native and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine . He came to Lewisburg as an associate in an area practice immediately following completion of his dental education, and opened his own private office in July of 1996.

Dr. Winans established his practice with one, single clear goal in mind – to provide patients with the area’s most advanced dental healthcare in a comfortable, relaxed environment. Many years later, he continues to improve his education, equipment and office environment in an unending pursuit of that goal.

An artist and architect at heart, Dr. Winans knew that he possessed the innate talent to design and develop smiles that were not only beautiful, but also healthy and comfortable for his patients. He has taken numerous courses at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI), including: Advanced Functional Restorative Dentistry, Advanced Functional Aesthetics, Advanced Adhesive Aesthetic Dentistry, Advanced Occlusal and Restorative Principles, Comprehensive Aesthetic Reconstruction, Coronoplasty and Case Finishing and Full Mouth Rehabilitation, all furthering his abilities to design some of the most stunning smiles in Central Pennsylvania.

His clinical skills and expertise were so impressive, LVI hand-selected Dr. Winans to serve as a Clinical Instructor at the educational center. He served in that capacity for years, teaching dentists from all over the world the latest in dental procedures and techniques.

Dr. Winans’ thirst for continuing education for himself is unrivaled. A member of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), he earned his fellowship degree tied for the shortest time nationwide in history of the Academy, and the shortest time of any AGD member in Pennsylvania. He typically completes over 200 hours of continuing dental education each year.

He has also had the opportunity to lecture to dentists and dental teams. Through these speaking engagements he fulfills his passion to educate and inspire others to provide outstanding dental care.

He resides in Winfield with his wife Xaña, son Ryder and daughter Savannah. He is a music lover (all kinds and tastes), and is a self-proclaimed Parrot Head (for the uninitiated, that means he is a great admirer of Jimmy Buffet – 29 concerts and counting). He is a very involved father and can often be found spending time with his children. His passion for health and fitness has led him to compete in two Ironman Triathlons, with more planned in the future. He has also established the Winans Triathlon for Kids to help expand the physical fitness horizons of area children.
