"I’ve always been a very joyful person, and smiling comes naturally to me. I work as a personal trainer and fitness instructor. I was always self-conscious about my smile; as soon as I’d smile, my lips would close or I’d cover my smile with my hand. I always found my smile to be a weak spot on me; I could find beauty in other places, but never in my teeth.

Then my daughter nominated me for the 2009 Brighter Smile Clearer Vision makeover contest that Dr. Winans was sponsoring. I was selected to go for a consultation with him and through public votes, was voted the winner! I was so excited.

On my first visit, I surprisingly felt at ease. During my consultation, Dr. Winans and his team told me everything to expect. They told me what they were going to do, explained how long it was going to take, and clarified everything. I wasn’t worried or anxious at all. Dr. Winans is great. I told him I have a degree in art, and he told me that he also is an artist. And he certainly is. He put so much time into creating the right tones and color of the teeth, and making sure the smile looked like mine. I also couldn’t believe how pain-free everything was. So many people have asked me if the procedures were uncomfortable, but nothing hurt at all!

The whole thing took only three visits. First, my teeth were prepped and temporaries were placed on them. A few weeks later, I came back to have the permanent veneers positioned. The best part was that the veneers looked so natural. It looked like my smile, only better.

I’ve always felt that a smile is one of the most important ways we communicate with others. Now after my makeover, I feel like I can just smile from my heart without any worries.
