Enhancing a Gummy Smile
If you reveal too much gum line when you smile, a gum lift with a soft tissue laser is an ideal solution.
The soft tissue laser can recontour the gum tissue, greatly enhancing the appearance of the smile. The laser “seals” the tissue as it reshapes it, promoting a quicker healing process.
Crown Lengthening and Gum Contouring
Do your teeth seem too short? Or your smile too “gummy?” Your teeth may actually be the proper length, but they’re covered with too much gum tissue. Crown lengthening and gum contouring return your teeth to the appropriate proportions and your gums to an aesthetically pleasing shape. For crown lengthening, excess gum and bone tissue is reshaped to expose more of the natural tooth. This can be done to one tooth, several teeth or all teeth to expose a natural, broad smile. Crown lengthening may also be recommended to make a restorative or cosmetic procedure possible. To contour the gum, Dr. Winans will place a topical anesthetic on the gums to numb the area. He then will use a soft tissue laser to quickly reshape the gum line. The laser seals the tissue, promoting quick healing and creating an even more beautiful smile!
